Medieval Chess - Part 2
Medieval Chess - Part 2
I've just finished the second drawing for a study I'm doing on medieval chess. The space above my couch remains vacant and I'm 'letting the wall speak to me' as to how I'm going to decorate it. In this drawing the chess pieces have 'grown' faces. In order to keep the game board still looking like the actual game of chess, I've kept the colors fairly consistent and limited the color pallet to just two for the game pieces. I'm not sure I will keep it that way for the painting I intend to create for my living room. I do feel another study is needed.
The first drawing had more rich colors that didn't match my room. I do believe in the expression "good art does not match your couch" at the same time interiors should not clash. If you have warm yellows and golden browns everywhere, then be careful with the cool blues you introduce to the room. Colors do play with our psyche and I'm a firm believer in Feng shui.
Here is how the first drawing looked:
All opinions and comments are welcome! Both of these drawings are available on ebay.
